So you want to work Isotopes Games? Here are some frequently asked questions and information to help you out. Who can work? Students or people working for a student must be at least 16 years old. It does not matter if the worker is a blood relative or just a friend, all monies can only go into the band/guard student's band/guard account. Adults over the age of 21 should have alcohol training so they may serve beer. We are required to have 10 server adults in the stand, but are having a difficult time getting certified adults. We will allow certified adults to work before non-certified workers whenever we are faced with a conflict. What do we wear? You must wear closed-toe shoes. This means tennis shoes, casual shoes or boots where your feet are completely covered. DO NOT wear sandals or flip flops as this is a health code violation! You will be sent home for this because you cannot work in any of the stands. You must wear khaki pants, shorts or skirts. I'd suggest a pair you don't really care about because there are many items that could potentially cause stains if you are not careful. You must also wear a white shirt. It doesn't matter if it is long sleeved or short sleeved, a t-shirt or a dress shirt. If you do wear a t-shirt, try to get one without brightly colored, large-sized logos as it will show through the shirt you will be given to wear while you work. Plan for hot or cold weather because all of the stands open to the outdoors and it can be windy and cold in the park, but calm and 90 degrees inside the stand. Also, you will stand/walk/run the whole evening, wear comfortable shoes and clothing. How do I get NM Alcohol Server Training? You must be at least 19 to take the classes. 19 year olds may push the beer across the counter, but not draw it from the tap - so most teens don't need to do this. If you are 21 years old and have a NM Drivers license, Base ID or Passport, you should take the classes. You will be required to take 4 hours of class and pass a test based on what you learn in class (it is easy!). The certification is good for 5 years and belongs to the person, so you could potentially use it for a restaurant or bar job too (or, use the one you already have...works either way). The State of New Mexico mandates that the class cost is $30, but some of the sites will give a discount. No one charges more than $30. After you work 3 games, we credit the booster account $30 in the student's name to reimburse you for your effort in obtaining a license and helping the band, so essentially, the class is free. You must pay for the class when you attend and carry your valid ID with you as you enter. Some locations that offer classes are: New Mexico Restaurant Association. Call 343-9848 or visit their site at www.nmrestaurants.org. They offer classes during the week and on weekends at varying times and dates. They offer a $5 discount if you take classes with them, print a coupon from the website. They take cash, check, money order or credit card payments. Classes are on Montgomery just east of Wyoming. Verify and register before showing up to a class. The facility here is really nice, but classes fill quickly. Do not be late or they won't let you in. The College of Santa Fe. Call 323-5630 for more information. They only accept cash or money orders to pay for the class. Classes are usually held at 4501 Indian School, but dates and times vary. You may also visit www.asts-nm.com for more information. You should verify, but do not need to register for classes. LBT of NM. Call 877-1127 for more information. Classes are held at 2601 Wyoming. This site accepts cash or money order only. Verify and register before attending classes. They have a wide variety of days and times available. Look in the newspapers on weekends. Restaurants all over town need workers who can serve, so classes are held somewhere in or near Albuquerque almost every day, both mornings and evenings. Where do I park and how do I get into the stadium? Good question...and here are satellite images, generated just for your convenience... :-) (use your browser's back button to return to this page.) Where are the stands and how will I know where to go? Even better question, here's a map of the stadium - North is at the top, west on the left (University Blvd side), south is bottom (Avenida Cesar Chavez side) - if you can't figure out which is east...I'm truly sorry...
